(Poway, Calif.) - Sherry Yarbrough, Executive Director of the Associated Builders and Contractors
Apprenticeship Training Trust, announced her retirement effective December 31, 2016. Yarbrough has served as Executive Director for 17 years.
Shandon Harbour, currently Vice President of Safety and Education for the San Diego Chapter of ABC, will succeed Yarbrough as Executive Director. Harbour has been appointed Deputy Director for the Apprenticeship Training Trust effective immediately, working with Yarbrough to aid in a smooth transition. Harbour has built a top quality journeyperson and safety training program and will continue those programs under the ABC Apprenticeship Training Trust.
“Sherry’s innovative thinking and strong leadership have made the San Diego ABC apprenticeship program the standard for excellence among skilled craft professional apprenticeship programs nationwide,” said Brian Lynch, board chairman of the ABC San Diego Apprenticeship Training Trust Board of Directors. “Speaking for San Diego County’s construction industry, we have all benefited from hiring local, well-trained, highly skilled professionals.”

Yarbrough administers and oversees an award-winning, nationally recognized, accredited training program through ABC San Diego for merit-shop state and federally registered apprentices. The program offers a three-five year training program in five different construction crafts including electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, sheet metal/HVAC and electronic systems technician.
Prior to being hired by ABC San Diego in 2014, Harbour’s entrepreneurial and construction experience included serving as part of the management team and eventually President of SDA Security. Harbour also has an educational background having worked as a multi-level teacher and Peer Coach for the San Diego Unified School District.
