Poway, California -- Top apprentice and professional electricians complete for $500,000 in cash and prizes at the 2017 IDEAL National Championship. Associated Builders and Contractors San Diego's Training Academy is hosting qualifying rounds, where competitors test their skills with the clock ticking against America's best electricians at both the professional and apprentice level. Each competitor is asked to perform specific tasks in order while being timed, using specific materials and tools.

Local competitions are underway throughout sixty-three (63) IDEAL territories at IDEAL distributor or retail locations, trade schools and trade shows located throughout the United States from March 13, 2017 to October 6, 2017 including the ABC Training Academy September 5 through September 8. The San Diego territory includes San Diego and Imperial Counties, Temecula, and Yuma, Arizona.

During the Qualifying Round, the top score in each category from every competition will be recorded. The top Pro and top apprentice from each territory will advance to the Championship Weekend in November 2017 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
