Start Today and Rebuild Together (START) is a construction industry alliance between Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and the Modular Building Institute
(MBI). START was formed to leverage the resources of the construction industry, nongovernmental organizations and government agencies to respond quickly and efficiently with relief and rebuilding efforts following natural disasters. The first initiative, START Haiti, will help the country rebuild after January’s 7.0 magnitude earthquake. START Haiti gives ABC and MBI member companies an avenue for raising funds and sending modular containers outfitted with medical supplies to Haiti. By working with Volunteers of America (VoA), Architecture for Humanity (AfH) and government agencies, the alliance will ensure clean and adequate facilities are in place for the people of Haiti in a timely and orderly manner.
All donations for START Haiti will be made directly to Volunteers of America Southeast. Click here to directed to their site, select the amount you would like to donate and select START Haiti at the bottom of the donations page.

ABC Supports Rescue Task Force and the Wounded Troops
Build a Backpack Program Delivers Necessities and Comfort Items to Severely Wounded
2009-2010 - Rescue Task Force (RTF) is a San Diego County based non-profit relief agency that responds to natural and man-made disasters world-wide. In addition to local military and military family support through their “Happy Hearts for Hurting Heroes” Back Pack program, RTF delivers volunteer medical and dental teams into the jungles villages of Honduras and has constructed three full service medical and dental clinic facilities deep in the jungles of Honduras’ Miskito Coast. RTF also operates fifteen schools for women in Afghanistan.

The ABC Cares Committee and Chair Kim Briggs with Dunamis Systems has partnered with Rescue Task Force to collect donated items and monatary contributions in support of the Backpack Program. Severely wounded troops arriving to Naval Medical Center Balboa and other Military Hospitals throughout the Nation often arrive with only the clothes on their back. Many of the troops have sustained injuries that will impact their lives forever. RTF provides backpacks filled with necessities and comfort items to help to demonstrate that they will never be forgotten.
