Electronic Systems Technician (Sound Technician) Skills

Electronic Systems Technicians (EST’s) install, connect, calibrate and service products that carry voice, video, audio and data in office buildings, homes, and other structures. Some EST’s install and service fire and security alarm systems, while others work with telecommunications equipment such as business telephone systems and computer networks. They may also install coaxial cable for television or fiber optic cable for computers and telecommunications equipment. EST’s will review and follow drawings, blueprints and construction specifications. Electronic Systems Techs may begin their career as a helper and then enter a formal training program becoming an apprentice. Electronic Systems Technicians must use their physical capabilities.
